Davis Graveyard

Since it’s only a week and a half until Halloween, I’m looking for some fun places to get in the spirit.  I’m trying to work up the nerve to go to some haunted houses, but in the meantime I went to check out an amazing Halloween display that’s out in southeast Portland, well technically it Milwaukie.  We’ve featured it on the news a few times but until now, I’ve never stopped by.  It’s called the Davis Graveyard and it’s on 43rd & Johnson Creek Blvd.  Since it’s a spooky graveyard, it’s very dark and easy to miss the turn, so be careful.
This place is impressive.  It’s just a home in a quiet neighborhood that sets up an elaborate graveyard.  On Friday and Saturday night they have lights, fog & video effects and music going and I must admit, I was a little creeped out at times.  The music was incredibly chilling and we arrived late, after 10:30pm so there were only a few people around and it gave me goose bumps at least once.  I’d say that’s high praise for halloween decorations.  But it’s more than decorations… they have a special effects too and some of them were VERY good.  They reminded me of the effects in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland with faces projected onto statues.
The this is the 13th year for the Davis Graveyard and it’s so impressive that this is just a family’s labor of love.  Obviously a DEEP LOVE of Halloween.  It’s really impressive, so if you’re in the neighborhood or just need something to do one night, stop by to check it out.

You can visit pretty much any night in October up until 11pm, but some nights are better than others.  Check their calendar for a schedule of effects.  And they do take donations, so if you have a few bucks it would be much appreciated.
