North American Organic Beer Festival

There are a lot of beer festivals in Portland, but most of them I avoid like the plague.  They are always packed, frequently run out of beer and I get tired of waiting in line after line.  But the North American Organic Beer Festival is a little different.  Maybe the word organic keeps out some of the riff-raff, maybe the North Portland location scares the Beaverton folks away, but it still remains WAY less crowded that other festivals and has top notch beer.

The festivities get started on Friday June 25th and wrap up Sunday, June 27th.  It is free to get in, so if you don’t want to drink you can still hang out, but it cost $6 for a cup if you do want to drink.  After that tastes are $1 each.  If you take the Max, ride your bike or bring 3 cans of food, you get a $1 discount.

This year there are 35 breweries, serving 55 different beers.  You can find a list here. Another bonus of an organic festival is they shed the usual festival fare, and had some really great food.  There is no list of this year’s vendors, but bring some extra money for a great meal.
