City Hall Garden

There is a lot of disagreement inside Portland’s City Hall, but outside there is one thing I think everyone can agree is awesome… the community garden.  The front lawn was removed and replaced by vegetable beds, strawberries and blueberries.

It’s operated and cared for by Loaves & Fishes and all the food harvested goes to their community kitchen.  Being a gardener myself I love watching the progress of the garden during the summer.  It’s also a great reminder that vegetables don’t have to come from a farm, they can grow anywhere, even in the middle of the city.
