Title Nine + Giveaway
Shopping for the perfect sports bra. My success story plus a special giveaway for my blog readers: a FREE BRA from Title Nine. (Sponsored Post)
UPDATE 5/2/15: The giveaway is over. We have a winner. Thanks for participating and even if you did not win, check out Title Nine they are a great resource for women.
Things are about to get a little personal because today I’m talking about bras. Specifically sports bras. Right now bras are a topic that I am interested in because there’s a lot going with my boobs. The biggest thing is of course, breast feeding, which can mean bigger sizes, more sagging and stretch marks. Ugg. Add into that weird nursing bras, pre-pregnancy bras that don’t fit and my desire to start working out again and, like I said, it’s complicated. Which is why I jumped at the chance when Title Nine invited me to try one of their bras and come in for a free fitting.
First off, let me tell you my history with Title Nine. Don’t worry, it’s short: I had never even heard of them until last summer when I was invited to go on one of their events, a women’s only night hike to Mirror Lake and the top of Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain. (A great hike if you’ve never done it.) I had a blast and got a feel for what they’re all about: supporting active women. The employees all seemed to love their jobs and that is always the sign of a great company.
Until now, the way I bought sports bras was simply picking up a compression bra in one size too small at Target. That way I’d be sure it was tight enough. Pretty sad. The experience during my fitting at Title Nine was MUCH BETTER. One of their “Bravangelists” spent about 20 minutes (just with me) measuring me, bringing me bras that fit my needs, then examining each fitting until we narrowed it down to just the right one. Since am fairly well endowed, play volleyball and run, I needed something with full support.
One concern ladies with larger breasts have is appearance. Sometimes larger bra sizes are only available in hideous styles, you know, the “granny bra” look? But I am happy to report that everything I tried on was attractive AND supportive. All the styles I tried on were black but many of the other bloggers I met were walking out with super cute designs and colors. I should also mention that, while bras seem to be their specialty, Title Nine sells all kinds of activewear that looks great, including swimsuits.
During my fitting we went through about 5 styles. I ended up settling on one called the “Booby Trap”. And I even wore it out of the store because I was headed straight for a volleyball double header. It worked great! It didn’t help us win, but my boobs stayed comfortably in place for both matches. It was also nice to be measured and sized, it will give me a good starting place when I shop for regular bras.
During the month of June, the Title Nine stores here in Oregon are holding special “FitFest” events to help you find the right bra for your lifestyle. To celebrate Title Nine has generously offered to give one KristiDoesPDX reader a free sports bra and fitting! The giveaway is open to anyone in the US and will include a personalized fitting (either in-store or by phone depending on location) and one bra. Winners within driving distance of a TitleNine store will be asked to redeem their prize at the closest/preferred retail location. If the winner does not live near a Title Nine, they can redeem their prize through the call center. Good luck and thanks for reading!
Thanks for entering. If you want to check out Title Nine in person, they have a location in Portland’s Pearl District and another in Eugene.

Hiking with my dog! I’ve heard of Title Nine before and keep meaning to check it out sometime but haven’t gotten around to it.
Oh, I used to be guilty of the Target grab and buy sports bra purchase. Glad you found a bra that works for you!
I like exercising outside, and with all the amazing trails nearby, hiking is my favorite activity!
My girls definitely need a new fit! Thanks for the info Kristi!
All my workout bras are (guilty) Target, or I might see something I like when my employer gets us passes to Nike once a quarter or something. I’m fortunate in that I am smaller chested, but am limited to only buying sport bras with padding because I am poky so probably seem bizarre when I shop and feel up all the sport bras and workout tanks. I am caring less though as I have been doing Zumba at PulsePDX and it’s dark like a nightclub in there, so it doesn’t matter as much!
I’m a hiking fan! I don’t get to do it as often as I’d like, but I do love it…
I like to run with my friends and I am seriously intrigued by this post because I also do the Target, one size too small method (although I prefer Old Navy, one size too small.
I’m an avid runner, and I am also totally guilty of the Target sports bra buy. I don’t have a lot going on up there, but I’d love to know if I’m getting it right in the sports bra department!
We hear the Target bra story a lot and even some gals that wear two of them to get the support they need. So happy that you found one that gives you support and the cuteness factor that you need.
All of your photos look amazing! I love that your blog covers all things PDX! Including hikes and gem museums.
I love to go running outside.
Very cool! I would have loved to attend this event but it was my first evening back at home after a very long weekend and I desperately needed the time at home.
I love working out solo in my garage gym, and I love hiking with my husband!
As a (fairly) new mom – my LO is not yet 1 – I have been really enjoying Stroller Strides classes and hikes with Hike It Baby groups to keep fit and active. I am also getting back into running and have really noticed that pregnancy and breastfeeding have altered my body shape as my sports bras just don’t fit in quite the same way. Your blog post has made me think that I need to get it sorted out!
I love running. I go to a trail across the street from my house:)
I like to take zumba classes
Home workouts and hikes with friends!
I like to run outside
I’m curious about Stroller Strides, my LO is only 5 months so I’m right there with you.
It’s funny that you mention wearing two bras at once, someone just messaged me about exactly that right after posting this story. Getting ready to put my new bra on right now for the Starlight Run.
I enjoy walking in the park with my husband.
