Peanut Butter Pickle Bacon Burger

Peanut butter.  Pickle.  Bacon.  Burger.  Don’t be scared.  Try not to be grossed out.  This is actually GOOD!  My first thought when I heard about this creation was “DISGUSTING”  But I was totally wrong!    This is a surprisingly good burger.  The flavors and the textures mix together to create an something really original.

The combination of peanut butter and bacon is not that crazy.  One of my favorite bloggers, Joy the Baker, has lead the peanut butter bacon charge with  cookies and pancakes.  She’s also done a peanut butter & pickle sandwich.  But this burger, puts all the flavors together and takes it to the next level.

The peanut butter and bacon are rich, chewy and salty, then the pickle cuts through, with a crunch and a brightness that really ties the sandwich together. The patty is fried up until crispy on the edges adding another level of crunch. The bun is a little unremarkable, but it does its job, holding the sandwich together without being too tough.   Finally, each burger comes with fries. They are good but I was too full to eat that many.  It’s a big burger!

I would call this is a “destination” burger. A sandwich that’s worth going out of your way to try. Luckily, you don’t have to go that far. Killer Burger has locations in the Hollywood District. Vancouver, Sellwood, Bingen (in the gorge) and a brand new location in downtown Portland. The prices are good. About $10 for a sandwich, fries and a drink. Plus, if you still aren’t sure about peanut butter, pickles and bacon they have half a more traditional burgers.

  1. I might have to seek this out. I had a peanut butter pickle sandwich years ago and it was actually good. I can see this burger being pretty interesting!
